The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status.

Version 1

The bar graph shows the hours spent on leisure time each week, categorized by gender and employment status, from 1998 to 1999. Overall, unemployed and retired people spend the most time on leisure.

Full-time female employees spend at least 38 hours per week on leisure, which is 2 hours more than part-time female employees. Full-time employed men spend around 48 hours per week on leisure. In contrast, part-time employed men and housekeepers spend no time on leisure. Housewives spend about 53 hours per week on leisure.

The highest number of leisure hours for both genders is found among the unemployed and retired. Unemployed and retired men spend nearly 85 hours a week on leisure, while unemployed and retired women spend around 76 hours a week on leisure.

Version 2

The bar graph compares leisure time in a typical week for men and women, based on their employment status, from 1998 to 1999. Overall, women have more leisure time across all employment statuses, while men have the highest hours of leisure time for each employment status.

Part-time employed women spend around 40 hours per week on leisure, while there are no records for part-time employed men. Women working from home or as housewives spend about 53 hours weekly on leisure, compared to zero hours for men in the same category. Employed men and women have a smaller difference in leisure time, with men spending around 46 hours per week and women spending around 36 hours, a 10-hour difference.

Both unemployed and retired men spend about 85 hours weekly on leisure, the highest among all categories and genders. In comparison, unemployed and retired women spend around 75 hours weekly, showing a 10-hour difference.
