The multiple pie charts compare the population in Yemen and Italy across different age groups in 2000 and its projection five decades later. Overall, both countries are expected to double the size of their elderly population by 2050.

In 2000, half of Yemen’s population consisted of teenagers aged 14 years and below, while only 3.6% were 60 years old and above. By 2050, it is anticipated that the percentage of elderly Yemenis will increase to 5.7, nearly double that of fifty years ago. Meanwhile, six in ten Yemenis that year are expected to fall within the age bracket of 15-59 years old.

In their Italian counterpart, 61.6% were teenagers aged 15 to their late 50s, and only 14.3% were recorded to be in the age range of 14 to infancy in 2000. After fifty years, it is projected that the number of elderly Italians will increase from 24.1% to 42.3%, while there will be a shrinkage in the 15 to 59 years old category, going down to 46.2%, nearly a 15% decrease from five decades ago. The multiple pie charts compare the population in Yemen and Italy across different age groups in 2000 and its projection five decades later. Overall, both countries are expected to double the size of their elderly population by 2050.

In 2000, half of Yemen’s population consisted of youngsters aged 14 years and below, whereas their Italian counterparts were only 14.3%. Six in ten Italians were in the age range of 15 to 59 years old, showing a 20% difference from the Yemenis. In comparison, the elderly in Yemen constituted only 3.6%, contrasting with 24.1% of Italian senior citizens.

By 2050, the percentage of teenagers aged 15 to late 50s in Yemen will increase by 11%. However, Italy will see a 15% reduction in the same age group. Both countries will experience a decrease in their population in the age group of infancy to 14, with a 37% decline for Yemen and 11.5% for Italy, respectively. The senior citizen population in both countries will increase, from 3.6% to 5.7% for Yemen and from 24.1% to 42.3% for Italy.
